Confirmation 2011

We are so thankful and blessed to be presenting 22 eighth grade students on Sunday, March 19 who want to profess their faith in God and join this incredible community of believers, St. Andrews-Covenant! I have had the privilege, along with Steve Hein and Ellis Tinsley, Jr., to teach and talk to them about their faith and belief in God! Their confirmation classes were on such topics as Worship & Sacraments, The Trinity, Why Join The Church?, Growing in Your Faith!, and The History of the Presbyterian Church.

The students were given the challenge of raising $20 and then doing something extraordinary for God with it. Their instructions were to take their money, in groups or individually, and make a “difference” that would honor and glorify God! They have shared their experiences with us on their Confirmation Retreat this weekend to Camp Kirkwood.

They were also asked to learn two verses of scripture which I hope will be engraved in their hearts forever – not only to remember the words but to remember what the words mean.

“That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9

“How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!” Romans 10:15

Nathan, Tara, Laura, myself and all the youth volunteers are humbled and grateful to know and love these students who are trying to become more like Jesus everyday! Our prayer for them is that God would continue to bless them and that they would continue to love Him and seek after Him with all their heart! Please welcome with us these incredible students into this community of faith.

We praise the Lord for what He is doing in and through these 22 “strong students in the Lord”!

With JOY in Him,

Nancy Gresham
