Youth Choir Tour – July 25th (City of Refuge, Kashi Atlanta Streets, Habitat for Humanity, Eden Village)
Wow….what an exciting day we had! Team 1, VBS (18 of us), worked hard at the City of Refuge & ate lunch with the children. Twelve in this team went to Eden Village were they helped prepare dinner. The rest of Team 1 worked with Atlanta Street Meals where they also helped prepare & serve dinner.
Those who were 16 or over, Team 2A, worked on a Habitat house for Shirley Hart where we & a small crew from Home Depot completely paint the exterior of a house in just under 5 hours…amazing! It was extremely hot, but very rewarding. Ms. Hart had a huge pear tree in her backyard full of pears ready for picking. She allowed us to fill a huge bucket & grocery bag with fresh pears for the Mercy Center. They very rarely get fresh fruit & we felt they would love this. We all went out later for dinner.
Team 2B worked with Kashi Street Meals where they prepared lunch & went to the streets serving the homeless. What an experience!
We had one group go to Eden Village (City of Refuge) to prepare dinner & serve. The rest of our group helped prepare dinner for Atlanta Street Meals. We had a time for sharing & devotions. The students are SO grown up! The week is flying by!
