How are we – followers of Jesus – to respond to a person on the corner holding a sign asking for help? How are we to respond to an obviously hungry person sitting at a park bench, or on a sidewalk downtown? With Mercy. In 2016, SACPC began the “Mercy Pouches” ministry. What are Mercy Pouches? They are plastic bags containing several food items, a drink, and an information sheet about various resources within the community – shelter, meals, and medical, employment, and housing services. As a congregation, we regularly pack Mercy Pouches together throughout the year and keep them available for members to take with them as needed.
There are three ways to participate in this ministry – PROVIDE; PACK; CARRY:
Provide items for the pouches using the “pull & provide” bulletin board during the month of February.
Pack Mercy Pouches in Brown Hall before, during, or after the POPS meal on Wednesday, March 8th, beginning at 5:30pm (a great opportunity for families).
Carry Mercy Pouches with you in your car.
May the compassion of God’s Spirit lead us forward as we seek to love God and one another.
