The Good Shepherd Center’s new affordable housing community is now open and the first residents have moved in and are making it ‘home!’
You may recall Katrina Knight, Good Shepherd Director, sharing her vision for ‘Support Circles’ when she and Pastor Augustus delivered a joint sermon in April. A Support Circle is a small team of caring volunteers aligned to partner with residents as they transition from homelessness to re-housing.
SACPC has the opportunity to work with Good Shepherd to create the first Support Circle for a new Lakeside Reserve female resident who is anxious for this support. The plan is to create one or two Support Circles and get through the learning curve together. This is a one-year commitment and will include training to help ensure a successful partnership. Review the Support Circles document for more information.
Jeff and I have been anticipating this opportunity and are personally committed. We are looking for two to four congregants to join our Support Circle. Singles or couples are welcome. We expect one or two activities a month for each Circle member and we’d always work in teams. It’ll be a blessing to get to know each other through this ministry.
Please consider if you’re interested and contact us directly to discuss.
