Caregiving

The mission of the Caregiving Committee is to nurture our congregational members during both difficult periods and joyous celebrations.  These would include births, baptisms, new members, major life changes/events, illness/hospitalizations, and death of a loved one.  The is done through correspondence, Divine Drivers, Pastoral Care Officer of the Week, Homebound Ministry, Stephen Ministry, Tape/CD Ministry, Prayer Ministries (CareLine and Prayer Connection), Flower distribution (Christmas/Easter), Homebound Communion (Advent/Lent), and other programs.

Hurricane Check-In Available

This hurricane season is predicted to be very active. Act now to prepare for a hurricane in our area. The SACPC Caregiving Committee is creating a check-in list for all individuals who would like to be contacted by a church member before and after a major hurricane. If you’re interested in this service, please phone the Ministry Secretary (762-9693×229) and place your name and contact information on this list.

Homebound Member Ministry

Did you know that there is a ministry with our homebound members?  Individuals and families are matched with homebound members in a mutually caring friendship.  This relationship includes visits, cards, phone calls, and remembering special occasions.  The Caregiving committee is updating the roster of those participating in this ministry.  If you would like to volunteer as a visitor, or if you, or someone you know, is homebound and would enjoy the benefits of another caring contact, please phone the Ministry Secretary (762-9693, ext. 229).

Divine Drivers

Did you know that there are church volunteers who will help with transportation needs?  If you need transportation during the week or on the weekend for church services, you may phone Cathy McLaughlin (452-2341) or the church office (762-9693).  Advance notice is always appreciated!

Careline

The careline is accessed by many who pray for recent needs of those in our church and community.  The careline is updated on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  When you give permission for a name to be put on the careline, that name goes on both the telephone message and our church web site.  To add a person for prayer, simply phone the Church Office at 762-9693.

Prayer Connection

The prayer connection is a group of people who commit to daily intercessory prayer for those in the church and community.  When a person has been on the careline for a week, but remains in need of prayer, their name is added to the prayer chain for ongoing prayer support.  If you are interested in this ministry of intercessory prayer, phone Dorothie Johnson (392-6426) or the Ministry Secretary (762-9693, ext. 229).

Worship Tapes and CDs

Did you know that there are audiotapes of our worship services available?  Simply fill out a blue card in the pew racks or phone the church office (762-9693).  The cost is $3.00 and the tapes or CDs may be picked up in Chapel.  If you are homebound, there is no charge and you may be placed on a permanent list to receive the tapes or CDs in the mail.

Deacon Flower Distribution

During the seasons of Advent and Lent, flowers are distributed by the Deacons to our homebound members.  The flowers are picked up in the Chapel with a card that will include your name, and the name and address of your homebound member(s).  When you are notified of the pick up date, please deliver the plant as soon as possible and take time to visit with your assigned person.  Family members are encouraged to join you in this ministry.

Home Communion

During the seasons of Advent and Lent, we celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion and one Sunday afternoon (1-3 pm) officers of the church share the sacrament with members of the church who cannot regularly participate in our worship services.  These members will be phoned to arrange the visits.  If you do not receive a phone call and would like to receive communion, please phone the Ministry Secretary (762-9693, ext. 229).  This is one of the ways we endeavor to care for all of our members.

DivorceCare

DivorceCare is a video seminar and support group for people experiencing the grief of divorce and separation.  Seminar sessions include topics such as: “Facing Your Anger,” “Facing Your Loneliness,” “Depression,” “New Relationships,” and “Forgiveness.”

DivorceCare 4 Kids is a Christian based program offered to children ages 6-12 who are experiencing the grief of divorce.  The children’s program addresses the same issues as the adult program through the use of songs, stories, DVD’s and crafts.

In addition to the pastoral care of the Staff, Stephen Ministers, and the Presbyterian Counseling Center, we hope this group will provide another means of support for people who are working through the pain that comes with the breakup of a marriage.  Please contact Martha Reiser (256-9606), Vicky Martenis (313-1312), or Cathy Boettcher (371-5951) for more information.
