Mr. John Birkenheuer - Commissioned Lay Pastor

John Birkenheuer started life at a very young age. This year he will be married to Barbara for 36 years while celebrating his 71st and her 66th and have moved to Brunswick County.  We have three children, John, Adam and Lisa. John has turned 42 and has retired. He was an undercover narc in south Florida. Adam is a college professor at NC State in Veterinary medicine.  Lisa is in Real Estate in Annapolis, MD.  Snickers is our Border Collie and is the head of the household.  Â
Sharon Miller - Director of Music Ministries

Sharon Miller joined the St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church staff in June, 2008, as the Director of Music Ministries. Growing up in Portsmouth, Virginia, she studied both voice and piano from an early age and has been involved in church music all of her life. Her musical studies are from James Madison University and Virginia Tech. Sharon moved to Wilmington from Richmond, Virginia where she served the congregation of Salisbury Presbyterian Church in Midlothian, Virginia, heading a large music ministry of all ages. In 2004, she was Co-Chair of Music for the National General Assembly Conference and has been a clinician at several conferences in creative ways to use music in worship. Sharon has also chaired the Presbytery of the James Worship and Music Conferences with guest clinicians Marva Dawn and John Bell. In addition to her choral work, she is an accomplished pianist and enjoys both performing and vocal coaching. Sharon is married to John Miller, Organist at St. Andrews-Covenant and has three children; Katie Miller, a Marketing Director for Time Warner in New York City; Emily Miller, an OB/GYN physician (resident) in Chicago; and Nathan Miller, a Strategic Analyst for Royall Inc. in Richmond, Virginia. In her spare time Sharon enjoys the beach, playing bridge and entertaining friends and family.  Â

John Miller - Organist
John Miller joined the St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church staff in June, 2008, as Organist. A native Virginian, John studied piano from age six and became a church organist at age 15. John has been the organist at Salisbury Presbyterian Church in Midlothian, Virginia; Westminster Presbyterian Church in Richmond, Virginia; The Scots Kirk, in Lausanne, Switzerland; St. Michael Church (Lutheran) in Blacksburg, Virginia; and Calvary Baptist Church in Portsmouth, Virginia. During his time at Salisbury Presbyterian he served on the building committee for the new sanctuary and led the church in the specification, purchase and installation of three pipe organs. John is married to Sharon Miller, Director of Music Ministries at St. Andrews-Covenant and previously was President and Chief Executive Officer of Hauni Richmond, Inc., the United States subsidiary of an industrial machinery manufacturer. In his spare time John enjoys the beach, snow skiing, and gardening.  Â

Cindy Litzinger - Associate Director of Music for Children

Cindy has a BS in Music Education from Clarion University of Pennsylvania. Prior to coming to St. Andrews-Covenant, she was a music teacher in the New Hanover County School District. Cindy is trained and certified as an instructor in both Kindermusik and Orff teaching methods.  Her primary instrument is clarinet. She, her husband, and their children are members of Wesley Memorial UMC where she is active in the contemporary worship service’s praise band and adult and children’s hand bell programs.

Jeff Bell – Associate Director of Music for Contemporary Music

Jeff Bell joined the SACPC staff in August 2008. He studied music at Missouri State University (formerly Southwest Missouri State) in Springfield, MO where he was also born and raised. Jeff grew up singing in various vocal ensembles and has played guitar, his primary instrument, for  40 years . Jeff and his wife, Susan, were founding members of the contemporary worship service and Lighthouse Praise Band at Wesley Memorial UMC. They and their two children are still active in the music ministry there.  Â

Nathan & Tara Tuttle – Co-Directors of Youth Ministries

Nathan and Tara Tuttle joined the staff in August 2008. They both grew up in Winston-Salem, NC and are excited about being able to serve students and families as a team. Nathan served as youth pastor at Bethany Baptist Church in Winston-Salem for five years before coming to SACPC. Tara served three years as youth pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Ocean Springs, MS, and has been an administrator for the Regional Young Life Office in Winston-Salem before arriving at SACPC. Nathan has a BSBA, doubling in Marketing and Management, from UNC-Charlotte and Tara holds a BA in Bible & Religion with a concentration in Youth Ministry from Montreat College. For fun, they enjoy their five-year old lab Sadie, reading, just about all recreational activities and following Wake Forest athletics. Go Deacs!!

Nancy Gresham -Associate Director of Youth Ministries

Nancy became Youth Director of Middle School Ministries December 2005 after serving for 2 years as part-time assistant. She graduated from UNC-CH with a BA in education and taught second grade for 6 year here in Wilmington. She was previously employed by US Airways for 22 years and enjoyed her time as a flight attendant (“sky goddess”). She loves working in her yard and aspires to be a famous night club singer one day, singing her renditions of “Girl from Impanema” and “Boots are Made for Walkin.” Her greatest joy has been working with the incredible youth here and sharing Jesus with them. Jer. 29:11

Caroline McIntyre -Director of Children’s MinistriesÂ

Caroline McIntyre is originally from Salisbury, NC, where she grew up attending First Presbyterian Church of Salisbury. An avid Tar Heel, Caroline attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning a BA in Journalism and Political Science. After working in public relations for a few years, Caroline followed her passion for working with children and pursued teaching. She most recently taught second grade at Triangle Day School in Durham, NC. She is married to Joshua McIntyre, a recent graduate of UNC Law School. They have a maltese named Duncan. Josh and Caroline served the youth at 1st Pres. of Lumberton, and they have been on mission trips to Mexico, Jamaica, and Brazil. Caroline loves to read, work jigsaw puzzles, play tennis, travel, and spend time with family and friends. She also has a love of writing and the beach.

Megan McNamara- SACPC Preschool Director

Megan is originally from the Albany, NY area. She received her B.A. from Geneseo State University and her M.ED. from the University at Buffalo. She and her husband moved to the Wilmington area 5 years ago after living in Northern VA for 3 years. She was a school counselor in the public school system before deciding to stay home with her two young daughters. She has been a part of SACPC Preschool as a teacher, parent and Board member. She truly loves this school and its families. Megan is thrilled to be serving as the Director of the Preschool.Â

Ann Benson, RN, PhDÂ – Â Visitation Minister

Ann became a member at SACPC in 1995 and has served as Deacon and Elder. Her background is in nursing and sociology.  She works part-time visiting members who are homebound, in nursing homes and in the hospital. Ann is married to Robbie and enjoys gardening, warm weather and being outside.Â
