“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
As a Children’s Ministry of St Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church our mission at the Preschool is to provide the highest quality, developmentally appropriate, nurturing, learning environment for young children. We will strive to nurture the growth of children and families by providing a Christian environment with planned experiences for children’s spiritual, intellectual and social enrichment that help them learn and develop as Children of God. It is our belief that a successful preschool experience for the children requires a cooperative effort and communication between parents and teachers.
Research shows that good preschools can have long-lasting effects on children academically and socially. We offer a variety of half-day programs with small class size, and welcome children from all walks of life.

Our curriculum is based on the principles defined by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and includes:
- A balance of child-initiated and teacher initiated activities.
- Materials and equipment that is appropriate to the age group.
- A variety of teaching strategies that enhance children’s learning and development.
- A balance of activities which includes quiet and active play, individual and group activities, indoor and outdoor play, and large-muscle and small muscle activities.
St Andrews-Covenant Preschool classes are child-centered and developmentally appropriate, based on how children learn rather than what they should be taught. Children learn about God’s world through exploration, sensory experience, and active thinking. We offer a wide range of hands-on learning designed to allow children to learn as they play. Each class includes components of Bible, art, music, science, language development, math readiness, reading readiness and reading aloud, and social skills. We incorporate the award winning Handwriting Without Tears Program into the overall curriculum. Additionally, the three and four year old programs receive Spanish and Chapel time once a week led by The Reverend Steve Hein.
Our teachers and assistants are experienced, professional, well-trained, and truly care about each child and his or her development. Teachers regularly attend professional development classes and each member is trained in First Aid and CPR. Most have served at the school for several years and are proud to be part of a tradition of academic excellence and Christian values. Our staff is committed to the task of motivating and preparing children to love learning.
