Music for Children and Youth

We encourage all children and youth at St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church to worship God through music.

Looking for a way for your K-5th Grade Child to develop and use their gifts in service to our church?

Do you ever think your young child is too young to be involved with leading worship?

If  you answered yes to either of these questions,  we invite you to join us in January.

All Kindergarten – 5th Grade children are invited to join us on Wednesday’s starting January 11th for instructional rotations of handchimes, handbells and singing.

Children will learn the skills necessary to lead music in worship – all while focusing on the value of sharing their talents to praise God and serve our church.

We will meet each Wednesday from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm in the children’s choir room.

Children participating in these groups will assist in worship in both Traditional and Contemporary Worship services.

Do you have a 3 or 4 year old?                                                                                                               Come and join our Sonshine Choir (ages 3 -4 years).  We rehearse during the Sunday School hour several times a month.

Sonshine Choir: Our Sonshine Choir is offered for children ages 3 and 4. Rehearsals focus on the identification and development of your child’s singing voice. Children are taught by rote (modeling) and through age-appropriate musical games. Various rhythm instruments are used during rehearsals. The basics of ensemble singing and playing are also introduced and developed in this choir. Additionally, children start to learn about the worship service and the role they play in supporting it with their gift of music. Our Sonshine Choir supports our worship services on a scheduled basis.

For Youth Grades 6 – 12

Youth Handbells: Youth Handbells are offered for youth in Sixth grade thru Twelfth grade. Children are taught the use, care and correct playing technique for our handbells. Advanced music theory and more challenging musical pieces are learned in this group. Independent part playing is developed and strengthened during the weekly rehearsals. This group supports our worship services on a scheduled basis.

Join the Youth Choir to see what Music and Mission is all about!  Youth Choir – Serving God in SACPC, Wilmington and the World! !
