At. St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church, we provide opportunities for all ages to share their love, gifts and talents near and far.
What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. –James 2:14-17
In the book of James there is a significant discussion about faith without works. Faith is incomplete without service. Service does not prove faith but service demonstrates faith.
Because we know that God has given each of us wonderful gifts to enrich his world, we must take those gifts and make God’s world better. It is often said that it is better to give than to receive – and we often hear that those who have gone on a mission trip or helped someone in need have felt more enriched than they can image the receiver to be.
Because we are called by God to serve – and because we are equipped to serve – we must demonstrate our faith by serving God’s people.
