"New Season"
"rest & growth"
Luke 13:6-9
Luke 13:6-9
Almost eight years ago, Ed and I retired from the busy job of being toy store elves. Our staff gave us a pair of rocking chairs for resting on the front porch. Several years before then, my artist mother passed away, leaving the “seeds” my brother (also an artist) gave to me saying, “It’s your turn now,” as he handed me a big portfolio of Mom’s paints, paper and brushes from her studio. The fruit was unexpected, but gardeners/teachers like Betty Brown and brother Jed helped me cultivate my field and discover joy in this new season.
Painting is a meditation for me. I lose all sense of time, feeling connected to my mother and to the holy spirit of creativity that emerged slowly from my roots when I gave it the care it needed to thrive.

March's Let Justice Roll Down Bible study will be led by Emily Donovan. The theme is Economic Climate Justice. The Bible's economic wisdom never promises to eradicate poverty: "You always have the poor with you," it says instead. But there are things we are called as Christians to do that can reduce suffering and strengthen the entire social network. We will explore scripture from Deut. 15:7-11; Matt 26:11; Mark 14:7; John 12:8.
All are invited to attend. The same lesson will be given on March 11th, 12th, and 13th at 10:00 am in Dining Room. See Katherine Brandi for details.

Adult Handbells present "The Passion Prophecy"

Join us on Palm Sunday at 11:00 am for a special presentation by our Adult Handbells group. They will be presenting "The Passion Prophecy" by Cathy Moklebust, a musical interpretation of Isaiah 53:4-5:
Surely he has borne our infirmities
and carried our diseases;
yet we accounted him stricken,
struck down by God, and afflicted.
But he was wounded for our transgressions,
crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the punishment that made us whole,
and by his bruises we are healed.
and carried our diseases;
yet we accounted him stricken,
struck down by God, and afflicted.
But he was wounded for our transgressions,
crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the punishment that made us whole,
and by his bruises we are healed.
This musical offering will help us reflect on the profound theme of sacrifice and redemption, while preparing our hearts for Holy Week.

One Great Hour of Sharing Challenge - First in a series...

One Great Hour of Sharing is one of our denominations special offerings that is collected during Lent. Traditionally, children have received Fish Boxes and asked to donated coins for this offering. Adults are also asked to contribute through cash or check on a given Sunday or two during Lent.
This year, we challenge the entire congregation to make this a daily endeavor. Coupon books are available (one per family) to help us think, on a daily basis, about our blessings and how we can contribute a nominal amount to help others.
Next week we will explore where the money goes. Stay tuned - One Great Hour of Sharing donations are so very important!

Valentine Gifts

The children in our Wednesday afternoon M&M program made beautiful Valentine bookmarks for our homebound members. They really had a great time learning about some of the people they were going to and how instrumental these people were to the life and ministry of SACPC. We mailed the bookmarks, cards that we signed, and a picture of the children who were present that day.
